Can we
get your website a top ranking on the major search engines? In
most cases yes, but not always. It depends upon how competitive
your profession is on the Internet. For example, if you are
a surgeon, and if there are only a few surgeons with your specialty
who have websites in the area, a top ranking should be easy.
You are only competing with a few sites, and your competition
is probably not optimized. This would also apply to any merchant
in a small town where there is very little competition. If
you are the only dentist with a website in that town, you should
be ranked first and the cost of SEO would be minimal.
In contrast, if you are a car dealer
in a major city, there are zillions of car dealers in every
metro area, and most have websites. Therefore, a top ranking
for a car dealer in a large city will take more work and will cost more.
The most difficult listing to obtain
is a national or global listing, which means having your site
listed first when someone does a search for a product or service,
without stating a location. This requires at a lot of SEO work
because you must compete against millions of websites, not just
those in your area. If your product is books, you will compete against
Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. This is not cheap.
A national or global listing only
has value if you can sell your product long distance. A hair
salon, nightclub or real estate agent in Dallas or Houston does not need
to be listed first in Miami or London, but a Dallas or Houston art gallery
may wish to be, since art is unique and can be shipped.
Phone book listings and paid ads
(clearly marked as "sponsored listings") are not search
results, even though they are often displayed above or beside
search results. Some SEO firms may buy you a "sponsored
listing" at the top of the page. That
is advertising, not search engine optimization.
We work to improve what the search
industry calls "organic" search results, which means
the actual search results produced by each search engine's algorithm.
These are the real results.
Our fee for search engine
optimization is $1,000 to $100,000 per website (not per page).
If you are a local merchant, search engine optimization will
cost $1,000 to $2,000. If you have an eCommerce website selling
to consumers all over the world, be prepared to spend at least
$5,000 and probably much more. Our price is determined by how
competitive your keywords are, and how much work needs to be
done.
For very competitive keywords, and
case where the competition has invested in Search engine
optimization, it may require more than just text and keyword
optimization on the website. Other SEO strategies include link
building, directory submissions, article writing and submissions and
press release campaigns.
Link building consists of getting
other websites to link to your website, which Google sees as a
"vote" for your website. These links should come from related
industries. In other words, if you are an insurance agency
links from other insurance agencies, car dealers, mortgage
companies, home builders, etc. will be of great benefit to your
website, but a link from a chinese restaurant would not be of much
help. Also, link exchanges or reciprocal links will not
benefit you. When Google follows a link, then ends up right
back where they started from, they know that the 2 websites simply
traded links and will not give either site much credit for the
links.
Directory submissions consist of
submitting your website to various web directories, which will
include you in their directory listings and place links to your
website. They are not as helpful as one way links from other
relevant websites, but will assist in improving your website search
engine rank. Article writing/submissions and press release are
just that. We can write articles and publish them to article
directory websites, as well as create and publish press releases and
post them. Both of which will promote your website and assist
in search engine rankings.
None of this happens quickly. If you want instant results, the alternative is
Internet advertising.
